Notes :

This reservoir is 500 feet above sea Level set inland of Falmouth and just south of Redruth. This is an ideal spot for all levels of flat water windsurfer and has a very approachable Watersports Centre Team open from Easter through to October.

The centre can be reached on (01209) 860301 for an up to date wind report, to book lessons, or for further information. You will need third party insurance to sail here and a £8 day launch is charged but this covers use of the facilities including changing rooms, hot showers, ample free parking and full rescue cover.

The winds here can often be a little stronger than on the coast but a little on the gusty side, especially in a Westerly if you're trying to land in front of the activity centre.

john writes : nice site great place to windsurf
data is to old we have the tech so why not use it
ie web cams up to date wind stats by the hour

looked on site to check the wind at this venue the stats were 15hrs out of date

thanks john

Jeremy writes : Thanks John - of course WW does rely on equipment being on and net connections working etc...you\'re right that webcams and realtime feeds from consistent sources with a standardised data format would be good. Do you fancy funding them as WW isn\'t exactly the Met Office ;)

Stithians have linked up their own weather station so if you click on the spot link for Stithians you\'ll see their live readout (as long as the equipment their end is active).

Directions :

This central lake is probably most easily accessed from the south off the A394 (Falmouth to Helston road) at Rame. Follow the brown tourist signs through Carnkie to the Northern end of the lake. The entrance is just next to the Golden Lion Inn.

If you are approaching from the north then take the B3297 out of Redruth towards Helston and turn left in four lanes. If you take the next right at the next give way sign you will arrive at the Golden Lion Inn and entrance too.
